Welcome to my homepage. I've made a short video to describe my algebra and algebra support courses. Enjoy.

I would also like to write a short bio so parents and students can get a glimpse of who I am as a teacher.

When I left high school, I wasn't able to go to college at that time. I worked blue collar jobs and got promoted at a factory job. I enjoyed the work.

Soon, however, I was offered an opportunity to learn to drive an 18-wheeler semi truck. I took the opportunity and ran. I owned a truck business and a truck, and my business partner and I drove all over the nation, hitting all forty-eight contiguous states. I personally logged over one million safe miles, a proud distinction in the trucking world.

On a cloudy day in August 2009, the truck brakes failed. I was heading around a corner and down a winding highway in West Virginia, and there was construction traffic stopped in front of me in both lanes. Rather than hit the cars, I rode the side of the road as long as I could, eventually heading the truck down a ravine. Miraculously, I missed the cars and didn't hurt anyone in the wreck. The truck was demolished, though, and so my ten-year career as a long distance driver came to an end.

I decided to finally get my college degree, rather than buying another semi truck. I began studying math and science and SIUE, working toward an engineering degree. After a few introductory physics courses, I was hooked. I left engineering behind and decided to get my bachelor's in physics. (And I did. I graduated with a bachelor's in physics with the cum laude distinction).

My family got bigger, by one, when my daughter arrived in late 2013. I decided to go into teaching so we would have similar schedules, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I chose to become credentialed in math, believing the opportunities to teach math would open many doors.

I am a math teacher at heart, but the trucker still exists in me and so my daughter and I decided to buy a travel trailer this year. We've been to Illinois, up to Maine, and then back through the Midwest to Illinois again. We are headed to the Carolina's next to see the fall foliage.

As a note to my students: adventure should always follow you, wherever you go. Education can help open the doors to get you there. I look forward to being your teacher. Let's make this year something to remember!
