Hello and welcome to Algebra 1 Essentials at Perris High School! The 2020-21 school year will mark my 10th year teaching learners at the high school level and my third year at Perris High School. I sincerely love my role as teacher and the opportunity it provides to engage in meaningful interactions with students and their families. I hold a Master's degree in Education, as well as three teaching credentials, which have greatly supported my ability to differentiate instruction across academic content areas to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners. As part of my teacher preparation experiences, I was fortunate enough to be mentored by pioneers of the Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) models for education, approaches which I incorporate in the classroom. My passion for teaching algebra is based in the belief that the principles of mathematics can empower students with critical problem-solving skills in a universal language to be generalized to other areas of life. I believe that students learn best in a safe, well-supported, fun classroom community with clearly defined, high expectations and access to a variety of engaging technologies.
