Hello,
Welcome to Paloma Valley High School. My name is Terri Pang. I attended San Diego State University but completed my Bachelor in Mathematics and Teaching Credential at National University. I have completed my Master's in Mathematics Education at Western Governors University. This is my 21st year of teaching with 14 of those years spent teaching wonderful students at Paloma. I look forward to another great year with wonderful students and supportive families in my 15th year of teaching at Paloma.
For online (distance learning)/in-person, all lessons and assignments will be accessible through Canvas and MathXL; sometimes through quizizz.com. We are doing the flip classroom where students take notes at home by watching the lesson video(s) assigned. When they get to class, they have the class time to work on their homework in class so that they can get help from each other AND from the teacher. For each assignment, students are allowed multiple attempts to earn a perfect score. If the student uses class time wisely, parents/guardians should not need to look for and pay for a tutor outside of the classroom.
NOTE: Please be aware that there are so many Apps (such as PhotoMath, MathSolver, ...) and websites (Symbolab.com, WolframAlpha.com, MathWay.com, ...) that students can use to get the answers to any of the math problems. Therefore, if you child earned 100% or more on daily assignments but failed all quizzes and tests, then there's a chance that the child has been using technology to get the answers but did not learn the concepts.
I am available for tutoring in the mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays between 7:00 am - 7:30 am. Or by appointment.
For this school year, I will be teaching 4 classes of Algebra 2/Trig and 2 classes of Dual Mathematics through MSJC. If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email at terri.pang@puhsd.org and I will get back to you as soon as I have a chance.
