Dear Parents of Awesome Rough Rider Scholars!

     My name is Ken Sims and I have been a Specialized Academic Instructor for the past 30 plus years. My wife and I celebrated 36 years of marriage and our 3 thirty plus year old offspring have brought us 5 grandchildren.

I am so excited for the opportunity to work with your scholar at the California Military Institute, in the Perris Union High School District. In 1986, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Business and in1993 a Masters in Special Education from CSU SanBernardino while interning at Golden Valley Middle School. In addition to my expertise in Language Arts and Math standards for grades 5 through 12, I am able to motivate students to perform at their best as they continue to grow in proficiency. My two expert instructional assistants and I will push into your scholar’s classroom one or two days a week to ensure your child is gaining access and understanding the material presented at grade level. If your student has a Study Skills class with me, we will work daily on building foundational reading and writing skills as well as strengthen math abilities. Part of each day will also be dedicated to make sure your child is understanding the other subjects like Science and Social Studies. 

    I believe in having open Communications with parents so we may work together to ensure our scholar is maximizing his or her potential.
