Here are the expectations for the choir program:

  • Students will be able to rehearse and present choral music from a wide range of styles and time periods.
  • Students will be able to read, write, and interpret written musical notation.
  • In addition to all this, I aim to build the confidence and competence of our choir students in using their unique voices.

About Mr. Sauls

I am so excited about my second year teaching choir at Perris High School! Before being a choir teacher, I taught solo voice and piano lessons and directed community choirs.

I studied at California State University, Fullerton with industry greats. It was there that I earned my B.A. in Music Education. As a student of CSU Fullerton, I performed at venues such as the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall, with renowned musicians such as Andrea Bocelli, Gustavo Dudamel, and John Williams (my idol!). My first year, I became a brother in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (a music fraternity), and served as their Choirmaster during my time as a collegiate member.

I LOVE barbershop harmony. I've been singing barbershop continuously since mid-2014, and have sung in several choruses and quartets since then. I have also written several barbershop songs, performed by my quartet, "The Old Town Rascals," or by my home chorus, "The Wine Valley Harmonizers." When I'm not ringing chords, I'm preparing a session of Dungeons & Dragons!
I love being a GM (Game Master) for D&D. It's a neat cumulative hobby: 3D-printing, painting, writing, sketching, and more, all may contribute to planning a fun session of Dungeons & Dragons.
