I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. 

After I graduated high school, I joined the United States Navy, where I served as a Hospital Corpsman. 

Once I left the service, I moved back to Michigan and attended Eastern Michigan University and received my BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice Management, and my MA in Criminology. 

I moved to California in 2013, where I attended University of California Riverside to obtain my teaching credential.
