My name is Matt Dale, and as hard as it is for me to believe, I am about to enter my 20th year as a high school teacher, and my 7th here at Paloma Valley. When I started teaching back in 2003, a veteran colleague said to me, “The days are long, but the years are short.” She was right...time has really flown by. Although I suppose I have now reached veteran status myself, I can tell you that I still have a youthful eagerness to learn and grow, and I hope that my classroom is a healthy place where students feel supported in their own personal growth and development as a whole person.
Over the past 20 years, I have taught a number of high school subjects, and this year I am excited to be teaching Sociology (Periods 1 and 6) and United States History (Periods 2, 3, 4, & 5). Additionally, I proudly serve as an assistant with our golf and basketball programs here at Paloma.
While I will have a CANVAS page that has basic course information (including the course syllabus), we will most frequently use Google Classroom as the learning management system for both Sociology and U.S. History.
As the year progresses, I commit to flexibility and compassion as I try to support my students in meaningful academic and personal growth.
