Hi there! My name is Mr. Geiger and I teach at California Military Institute as a MATH teacher. The best course ever! This coming year will be by twelve year at CMI. It is a great school with awesome students and caring teachers and staff!! I like it there.

I was in the military as a Marine! I served from 1995 to 1999 as an electronics technician where I worked on all the electronic instruments that the pilots use in the F/A-18 Fighter Jet. I spent half my enlistment in school learning all the electronics that was needed for my MOS (military occupation specialty). I was permanently stationed at MCAS Marine Corp. Air Station Miramar near San Diego.  I was only deployed once to Iwakuni Japan where I stayed for six months. Joining the Marines was a great experience!

After the Marines I went to Cal Poly Pomona where I studied to become a teacher. I was the first in my family to go to college and graduate. Once I graduated I started teaching students mathematics immediately. The best course ever! I joined Perris Unified School District after already teaching for four years and I have been with CMI ever since. I have taught: Pre-Algebra, Math 8, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Statistics.

Math was one of my favorite classes in High School. I like to solving puzzles and to figure things out in a problem. With math there is always multiple ways to solve the same question; which makes it a lot of fun.

To be successful in math it just takes a lot of practice! Also, with math everything builds from what you just learned. So, if you questioned something in the last chapter it will catch up to you in the next and this is where a lot of students have problems. Students didn’t understand a concept from the last chapter and now that concept is the key ideal in the next chapter.

I welcome you to the next school year and I look forward to working with you.
